In a manner of speaking, that is...although some people think it went to the dogs years ago.
For the past several weeks, I've been photographing the dogs at the North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue in Harrisburg, North Carolina. All of the dogs who live there...almost fifty of them...have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or have simply run away from bad homes and been rescued by NMAR.
Kayla is one of the volunteers at the shelter who donates her time, energy, and love to the care of the dogs.
Rippy is a 10-month old mixed-breed who is deaf. She may be deaf, but she does not let her handicap interfere with her sense of fun and pure joy at being alive.
